Chicago Porcelain Fixed Bridges - Cosmetic Dentists in Chicago

When you have missing teeth, Dr. Bagai, your Chicago cosmetic dentist may recommend a dental bridge, which is a fixed or non-removable appliance that replaces missing teeth and thereby restores the natural beauty of your smile. Dr. Bagai, your Chicago cosmetic dentist will discuss with you the options best suited to your dental needs. The most common bridge is porcelain fused to metal; the porcelain bridges have artificial teeth that are created to fill the space of missing teeth and blend with the rest of your teeth. The bridge attaches to the teeth on either side of the empty space, and fills the space with one or more artificial porcelain teeth.

Although dental bridges are durable and will protect and restore your smile to its natural beauty for many years, they are not permanent and may eventually require repair or replacement due to average wear.

Reasons to consider fixed bridge by Dr. Bagai, Chicago Cosmetic Dentist:

  • Are any of your teeth missing?
  • Do you want to aesthetically enhance the appearance of your smile?
  • Do you want to maintain the healthy shape of your face when teeth are removed?
  • Are any of your teeth moving or shifting out of place?
  • Has your ability to speak or chew be compromised by your teeth problems?
  • Do your currently use a partial denture but want something more permanent?

What to expect from a fixed bridge procedure:

Generally, a fixed bridge may be completed in two or more visits to your Chicago Cosmetic Dentist. At your first visit, the teeth on either side of the space, the “anchoring” teeth are prepared through cleansing and shaping to receive a crown. Once this is complete, highly precise impressions, or molds, are taken in order to manufacture your custom bridge at a dental laboratory. Impressions for a temporary bridge will also be taken which you will wear for several weeks until your custom-designed bridge is complete.

During the second appointment, your fixed bridge will be carefully prepared and adjusted to fit your mouth. Your Chicago cosmetic dentist may recommend a temporary cement for the bridge initially so that you may allow your teeth and tissue time to adjust to the new bridge and identify any problems before the final appointment where the bridge will be permanently cemented, creating your ideal smile. Finally, you will receive information regarding the maintenance of your fixed bridge, including practices that promote good oral hygiene, and suggested timelines for regular follow-up visits to your Chicago cosmetic dentist.
